With a flash of claws and fangs, the wolves silently race off into the midnight darkness, accompanied equally quietly by Johann. The deer herd are resting. Asleep. Vulnerable. Tails swish as the pack encircle their victims, closing in for the kill. Johann stands by a male deer: strong, powerful, and utterly helpless.
